A Tense Calm
This series explores the power of simplicity contrasted to vibrant, expressive color. Each work is built slowly, inviting stillness and intention to every brushstroke. Color is utilized as structure and form. It holds the work open, allowing the viewer to rest and breathe, while being met with the overexertion of powerful color. The textures are subtle, often barely perceptible, revealing themselves only upon close observation. These paintings are an exercise in presence: in slowing down, in noticing, and sitting in the discomfort created by tension.
